Walter "Monk" Wright

Walter "Monk" Wright, 88, of Connelly Springs, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Born in Catawba County, NC on January 14, 1926, he was the son of the late Sherman Wright and Margie Chapman Wright. Monk was a member of Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ and retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company. He loved to farm and raise hogs.Mr. Wright is survived by his son, Elmer Wright and his wife, Sherrie, of Morganton; a daughter, Linda Wilkie and her husband, Dean, of Connelly Springs, NC; grandchildren, Timmy Wright, Savannah Hudson, Brandy Warner, Candy Baker, and Delana Wilkie; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Rashell Wright, Brandon Warner, Dakota Wellman, and Hayden Sumpter; a brother, Jack Wright; a sister, Kat Hilderbran; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Monk was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ellen Hudson Wright, three brothers, and four sisters.The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Chapman Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
