Walter Robert Callahan

Walter Robert Callahan, 72, of Morganton, NC went to meet his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was born on March 28, 1949 in Avery County to the late Pink Lester Callahan and Billie Dean Callahan. He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and a God fearing family man. Walter was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dwayne Callahan.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Connie Dale Callahan; daughter, Nicole Hunt (Dale); grandchildren, Karlee Fox, Sierra Wilson (Zachary), Chloe Hunt, and Jordyn Hunt; great-grandchild, Arabella Lindemann; brother, Pinky Callahan, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2pm Friday, March 11, 2022 at Sunnyside Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 2pm in the church with the Revs. Randy Clark, David Strikeleather and Charlie Barlowe officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy.
