Warren "Pee Wee" "Junior" Allman

Warren "Pee Wee" "Junior" Allman, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 after a period of declining health. Born in Rowan County, NC on January 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Isaac Toney Allman and Melissa Janie Harrison Allman.Warren was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church for 59 years. He retired from Drexel-Heritage Furniture after 45 years of service. He loved to watch baseball and NASCAR racing and listen to bluegrass music. He also loved work outside in his yard. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.Warren is survived by his son, Ronald Allman and his wife, Wanda, of Morganton, with whom he made his home; grandsons, Paul Edd Davis, Jr. and his wife, Tracy, and David Ray Buchanan and his wife, Rebecca, both of Morganton; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Davis of Boone, NC, Paula Davis of Morganton, and David Ray Buchanan, III of Morganton; a brother, William Alfred Allman of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by the love of his life: his wife of 53 years, Rachel Lingafelt Allman; sisters, Mae Halliburton, Sarah Whisnant, and Ella Hudson; and three brothers, Robert, Leon, and Harrison "Shine" Allman.The graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 at Burke Memorial Park with Dr. Mike Odom and Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.

The family would like to thank the staff of Burke Hospice, especially Linda Morton, Wanda Becthol, Marilyn Revis, and Chaplain Mike Costner for their kindness, visits, and care given to Warren during his illness.
