Watson G. Drinkwater

Watson G. Drinkwater, 87, of N. Anderson St., Morganton, NC died Thursday, October 2, 2008 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born July 11, 1921 in Manteo, NC, and was a son of the late Watson Gray Drinkwater, Sr. and Rebecca Allen Rodgers Drinkwater. Watson was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He worked as a supervisor in the shipbuilding industry including the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Virginia and also the Mayport Shipyard in Florida. Watson was a Mason.He is survived by his wife, Frances Howlett Drinkwater of the home; a son, Watson G. Drinkwater, III and his wife, Shelby, of Clinton, TN; daughters, Denise D. Milburn of Morganton, and Sharon D. Jarvis and husband, Arley Dale Jarvis, of Smithfield, VA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Watson was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.
