Wayne Edward Buff

Wayne Edward Buff, 84, of Connelly Springs, NC passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his home.  Born August 17, 1934 in Cleveland County, NC, he was a son of the late Marvin Buff and Lona Mozelle Newton Buff.

Mr. Buff was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and was a faithful and dependable member that also received great joy in ringing the church bell.  Wayne was a wonderful and dedicated father and grandfather that loved his community. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and farmer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Buff was preceded in death by his siblings, Adele Hastings, Estelle Brackett, Ralph Buff, Ruby Walker, Betty Jean Buff, and Faye Dean Swink.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carrie Lail Buff of the home; son, Tim W. Buff of Morganton; daughter, Nancy Buff Vodicka and husband, Scott of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Heidi Henson, Amy Bradshaw, Bryan, Aaron, and Corey Vodicka; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, and Cooper Henson and Macy and Hunter Bradshaw.  Also surviving are siblings, Merele Lingerfelt, Mildred Lail, Maxine Truitt, Roy Lee Buff, and Gerald Buff and a special friend to the family, Tracy Stamey.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Cook and Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by NC National Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
