Wayne Franklin Gullet

Wayne Franklin Gullet, 63, of Morganton, NC entered Heaven’s gate on Sunday, March 12, 2017 surrounded by his family.  Born on September 19, 1953 in Rowan County, NC, he was the son of the late Lomas Franklin Gullet and Gladys Mae Phelps Gullet.

Wayne loved watching the Duke Blue Devils, New York Yankees, and Green Bay Packers play ball.  He loved playing golf and gardening.  Wayne’s time on the ball fields officiating youth sports was also a highlight of his life.  He helped with the organization of “Back Pack Buddies” at North Morganton United Methodist Church.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Sandy Gullet of the home; son, Seth Gullet of the home; sisters, Karetha Anderson and husband, Ronnie of Bostic, NC, Katie Leiser and husband, John, Jr. of Paffatown, NC, and Janie Parks, and husband, John of Morganton.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mary Duckworth and husband, Bill and Lisa Ervin and husband, Chris all of Morganton; many nephews and nieces; special friend, Blaine Mull of Morganton; and mother-in-law, Amy Kincaid of Morganton.

The family will receive friends from 11 – 12 p.m., Thursday, March 16 at North Morganton United Methodist Church.  The funeral will be 12 noon, Thursday in the sanctuary with Rev. Paul Christy officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
