Wayne Grayson

Wayne Grayson, 68, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rutherford County, NC on February 2, 1943, he was the son of the late William Ray Grayson and Ima VanDyke Grayson. Wayne previously attended Fairview Baptist Church.He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Army Reserve. Wayne worked for many years at Southern Devices and retired from Paramount Ford. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Wayne is survived by his children, Michael Grayson of Cocoa, FL and Melissa Grayson Taylor and husband, Jason, of Morganton; grandchildren, Ashley Grayson Barrier, Kiersten Grayson, and Chris Starnes; great-grandchildren, Marlie Mauney and Holden Starnes; and a sister, Faye Gettys of Rutherford County.A celebration of Mr. Grayson’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
