Wayne Taylor, 73, of Glen Alpine, NC gained his heavenly wings on Friday, May 24, 2024. He was born on June 17, 1950 in Burke County to the later Clyde Edward Taylor and Martha “Maxine” Clark Taylor. He had attended Drexel Memorial Baptist Church. Wayne retired from Baker Furniture and had also worked at Henredon Furniture and Crestline. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to garden and the outdoors. He also liked to work on cars. Wayne was an Elvis Presley fan. He would help anyone who needed help. He loved his grandbabies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Birchfield.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katie Jane Duckworth Taylor; children, Benita Greene (Ricky), Bill Taylor (Maresa), Randy Taylor (Tracy); grandchildren, Brad Rose, Chad Rose, Casstin Taylor, Chelsey Taylor, Jocelyn Phillips (Nicholas); eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Aiken and Tammy Creasman; brother, Dwight Taylor; several nieces.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm, Monday, May 27, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 2pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Chaplin Daphne Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

So sorry to hear about Wayne. He and I spent a lot of time working side by side at Crestline furniture. I have a lot of good memories of our time there.
