Committal
Wayne Travis Rodgers, 74 of Morganton, NC, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022. Born on October 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Sam and Ruth Rodgers. Wayne was a Marine veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He was wounded in combat and received the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, a Bronze Star, and a three time recipient of the Purple Cross. Wayne was the Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans of America- James Avery Chapter.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rodgers; sons, Sean Rodgers (Karen), Jeffrey Rodgers (Kelly), Andrew Rodgers; brothers, Michael Rodgers and William Rodgers; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, July 30, 2022 at St. Mary's & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Foundation.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
