Webber Digh Smith

Webber Digh Smith, 92, formerly of Morganton, NC died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at College Pines Nursing Home. Born in Burke County, NC on October 27, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John Cletus Digh and Nettie Rhoney Digh. Webber was a member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who really enjoyed her children and grandchildren.Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Gilbert Smith of Drexel, NC, Richard Smith and wife, Jerroll of Morganton, and Donald Smith and wife, Lynn, of Morganton; daughters, Gearlene "Dude" Harris, of Lenoir, NC and Becky Clark and husband, Rusty, of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Lorie Brown, Wesley Smith, Destiny Hazra and husband, Amit, and Garen Smith and wife, Katie; great-grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Cassidy and Wesley II Smith, and Luke Smith; brothers, R. P. Digh and Bill Digh, both of Morganton; and a sister, Margie Moses of Greensboro, NC.In addition to her parents, Webber was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Labe Smith; brothers, Clarence, Solen, Fonzo, and Paul Digh; and sisters, Azalee Poteat, Beulah Mae Digh, and Mable Stewart.The funeral will be held 12:00 p.m., noon, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the son, Richard Smith, in Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 S.
