Wheeler Eugene Hampton, 76, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019. Born on July 16, 1942, he was the son of the late William and Mary Hampton. Wheeler was a member of River Valley Baptist Church. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Wheeler is survived by his children, Dora Costner (Carl), Debra Parker (Troy), David Hampton (Tina), and Donna McGee; brother, Charles William “Bill” Hampton; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and four great greatgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wheeler is preceded in death by his wife Betty Fox Hampton; sisters; Charlotte Franklin and Bessie Lee Webb.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at River Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
