Wilburn Buel McCall

Wilburn Buel McCall, 84, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 following a period of declining health. He was born in Bryson City, NC on January 13, 1926 and was a son of the late Dewey and Freda Gunter McCall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Stephens McCall; brothers, Obie and Otis McCall; and by a sister, Cleta Conner. Mr. McCall was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.Surviving are two sons, Edward Lee McCall and his wife Frankie, along with Steve Larry McCall and his wife Lisa, all of Morganton. Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Kay McCall of Kiev, Ukraine and Nancy Karen McCall of Morganton and the mother of his children from his first marriage, Hildred Gregory McCall of Morganton; sisters, Audrey Culbreth of Wilmington, NC and Freda Edmonds of Asheville, NC; nine grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Gunter Family Cemetery, Bryson City, NC.
