William Arthur “Ott’ Johnson

William Arthur “Ott’ Johnson, 83, of Glen Alpine, NC died Saturday, August 23, 2014.  Born in Burke County, NC on January 12, 1931, he was the son of the late Robert Foster Johnson and Essie Smith Johnson.  Ott was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine.  He was a retired employee of Great Lakes Carbon Corporation and loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise Fann Johnson of the home; a son, Robert E. Johnson, Sr. and his wife, Lisa Marie, of Hickory, NC; daughters, Kay J. Effler and her husband, Lawrence, of Glen Alpine and Arsenia J. Cassavaugh and her husband, Danny, of Lenoir, NC; grandchildren, Billy Barrier, Miranda Beaver, Robert E. “B.J.” Johnson, Erika L. Johnson, Jessica Feimster and her husband, Ashley, Kayley Walker and her husband, Nick, Ethan Cassavaugh, and Kelsey Cassavaugh; and great-grandchildren, Brooke Barrier, Holly Beaver, Sierra Barrier, Billy Barrier, Talen Walker, Tobias Johnson, and Eli Fitzwater.

In addition to his parents, Ott was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Michael Brown officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
