William "Bill’ Bailey

William "Bill’ Bailey, Jr., 90, of Morganton, NC passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Born in Yancey County, NC on May 1, 1924, he was the son of the late William McKinley Bailey and Minnie Pearl Willis Bailey. Bill was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the pacific theater of WWII. Mr. Bailey retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings with over 37 years of service and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.Bill is survived by his wife, Frances Johnson Bailey of the home; sons, Rodger Bailey and his wife, Phyllis Sigmon, of Morganton and Harold Bailey and his wife, Kathy Wallace, of Hickory, NC; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Molly Wishon Murphy of Morganton and Minnie Pearl Hutchins of Bostic, NC.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Bell Heaton Bailey; a granddaughter, Brandy Contessa Bailey; brothers, Edward Bailey and Frank Bruce Bailey; and sisters, Rose Spicer and Mary Goforth.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Moneyham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
