William “Bill” Piercy, 68, of Morganton, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 27, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born in Burke County, NC on June 23, 1956, he was the son of the late Howard William Piercy and Rama Grace Willis Piercy.

Bill had worked at Valdese Weavers, Viscotec, and TSG Finishing. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to take his boys hunting. Mr. Piercy dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.

Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Debra Gilliland Piercy; son, Bill Piercy, Jr. (Leslie); daughter, Michelle Taylor (Lee); daughter-in-law, Amanda Piercy; grandchildren, Alexis (Alina), Hailee, Jayden, Jasmine, and Jacob; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cain Piercy; and brother, Bobby Piercy.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Bill was such a kind and friendly soul. He was a mentor and friend during my early years at Valdese Weavers. He loved his family dearly and will sorely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time.
