William “Billy G” Alvey Griffin, 35, of Morganton died Thursday, October 3, 2019. He gave the gift of life to four souls who were looking for a miracle. His passing was unexpected but his decision to donate his body provided a Pennsylvanian with a heart; a Virginian with a kidney; and two fellow North Carolinians received a kidney and a liver.
Born in Caldwell County, NC on September 1, 1984, he was the son of Billy Jay Griffin and Tammy Alvey Chester.
Billy enjoyed reading Tom Clancy novels and the Bourne Identity series. He had an affinity for economics, government, and history, particularly WWII. A few of his favorite artists include: T.I., Eminem, Alice in Chains, and Linkin Park.
In addition to his parents, Billy is survived by his two beautiful baby sisters (how he always introduced them), Johnna “Boots” Chester, Mayna “MJ” Chester, “older sister” Hannah Cannon; grandmother, Barbara Griffin; uncles, John Alvey, Jr. and Michael Griffin; aunt, Jessie Phillips; nephews, Mason and Grayson Patterson; and other extended family.
Billy G was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Griffin; and his grandparents, John and Mayna Alvey, and William Griffin.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Shew and Pastor Dean Hart officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
