William “Dale” Lail of Morganton, NC passed away peacefully with his brother, Steve, by his side on Friday, June 28, 2024. Born in Burke County, he was the son of Lee Roy Lail and Bonnie Burns Lail Hunt.
As a member of Mount Home Baptist Church, Dale worked with the youth through the RA program, including camping trips. Dale retired from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center where he worked with the crafts. He was a big collector of model cars and hot wheels and loved taking care of animals.
Dale is proceeded in death by his father, Lee Roy, and his brother-in-law, Al Horton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Bonnie; brother, Steve Lail (Pam); sisters, Brenda Horton and Deborah Lail; nephew, Michael Lail; and nieces, Dawn Young, Tabatha Horton, and Lindsey Lail.
The family will receive family and friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Earl Cross officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dale was one of the most kind men I've ever known. He was always a strong and steady force in our Unit when we worked together at the J. Iverson Riddle Center. I was truly honored to call him my friend and brother in Christ. Much love and many prayers to his family during this time.
I worked with Dale at JIRDC. He was so kind to everyone! He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or story! My condolences to his family, just know he made a positive impact to on the lives of both Residents and Staff!
I worked with Dale many years ago at J Iverson Riddle Center. He was a wonderful Christian person and had a great sense of humor. I know he will be missed. My condolences to the family. Rama Jean Franklin
Dale was the Best brother you could have I know he is in no pain today and he is in heaven.I will miss him. Dale I Love you brother and I will see you again some day. We can only imagine what that day will be Dale knows
