William “Dobin” Lester Crawley, 84, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 24, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on December 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Alexander Crawley and Ruth Irene Dale Crawley. Dobin was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. In June of 2016 he retired from EJ Victor. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, and he loved his family and church family.
Mr. Crawley is survived by his wife, Oma Carswell Crawley of the home; daughters, Christine Crawley Bolin and husband, Mike, of Shelby, NC, Wanda Crawley McGuire of Morganton, and Tammy Crawley Lane and husband, Gary, of Morganton; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lucy Wellman and Verlie Smith.
In addition to his parents, Dobin was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Cathy Crawley Clark and Gilda Crawley Shell; brothers, Virgil, Ralph, Howard, and Nelson Crawley; and a sister, Darlene Brittain.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 am, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Bethlehem Baptist Church (7620 Watershed Road, Morganton) with Pastor Steven Painter and the Rev. Charles Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
