William Edward Doak, Jr., 71, of Morganton, NC passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016. Born in Miami, FL on August 24, 1945, he was the son of the late William Edward Doak, Sr. and Gabriel Loiselle Doak. William was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and served 10 years with the Miami Police Department. He then worked for 25 years with the NC Prison System.
Mr. Doak is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sarah “Tippy” Roper Doak of the home; sons, William Shannon Doak of Denver, CO and Todd Wesley Doak of Morganton; a granddaughter, Lexus Alexandria Doak of Morganton; and two sisters, Dorian Doak of Miami, FL and Gloria Doak of Miramar, FL.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Doak was preceded in death by a brother, Kirk Doak.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Margaret Ashby officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard. At other times the family will be at the home.
