William G. Hynson, III, 92, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Mr. Hynson was born at Bronxville, New York on April 30, 1932.

He served with the United States Army in Korea in 1953 and 1954 and was awarded the Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant. In 1954 he joined the investment banking firm, The First Boston Corporation, which subsequently became part of Credit Suisse. At the same time, he enrolled in the evening division of New York University at Washington Square, eventually receiving a B.S. Degree in Banking and Finance. He was a member of The New York Society of Security Analysts and a Chartered Financial Analyst. In 1960 he married Arlene Delevan of Windsor, Connecticut which marriage lasted until her death from cancer in 1998. Mr. Hynson remained at The First Boston Corporation until 1975 and subsequently joined the investment banking firm of Bache Halsey Stuart which became Prudential Securities where he became a first vice president in the corporate investment banking division. During his investment banking career Mr. Hynson became widely recognized as a specialist in competitive bidding financings that raised billions of dollars for companies in the electric, gas and telephone industries. In 1987 he retired from Wall Street and moved to Windsor, Connecticut. Following the death of his first wife Mr. Hynson remarried in 2000 to Aurora deVilla of Fairfield, Connecticut, now deceased. They moved to Morganton, North Carolina in 2010. Their retirement years have been spent traveling in an RV to every state east of the Mississippi River and rescuing and caring for numerous abandoned and unwanted domestic and farm animals.

Mr. Hynson's survivors include two daughters Valerie Hynson of Wilkesboro, North Carolina and Wendy Erickson of Hopewell Junction, New York.

No services are planned for Mr. Hynson.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
