William "Jerry" McFalls

William "Jerry" McFalls, 76, of Morganton, NC went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 14, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Born November 26, 1936 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late Coy Van McFalls and Lucille Elizabeth Curtis McFalls. Jerry was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church, and a veteran of the US Army. He retired from the NC School for the Deaf in 1988 and had worked at the US Capitol as a police officer for 8 years.Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances Mae Hall McFalls of the home; children, Jerry Dean McFalls and wife, Anita of Morganton, and Donna Lynn Shelton and husband, Douglas of Marion, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Lane and husband, Lawrence, Kerri McFalls, and Savannah Shelton; two great grandchildren; a sister, Vikki Kincaid of Morganton; and nieces and nephews from Morganton.In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Taft McFalls; and a nephew, David McFalls.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at North Morganton Baptist Church with the Reverends Kenneth Baker and Bob Deviney officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton Baptist Church, 101 View St., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
