William Kenneth "Dood" Auton

William Kenneth "Dood" Auton, 76, of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 5, 2011. Mr. Auton was born March 10, 1935 in Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Robert Pinkney and Maudie Ethel Ingle.William was a U. S. Army veteran and was a faithful member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Morganton. He also worked 37 years at Drexel Furniture Company.A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Jeanette Auton; a daughter, Shelia Johnson and husband, Ralph, of Morganton; sons, Don Auton and wife, Penney, of Morganton, and Rick Auton of the home; grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Karen, Adam and wife, Britney, Tosha Johnson and Fiance , Zach Beck, Lauren Auton, and Lindsey Auton; great-grandchildren, Ally Auton, Mason Auton, and Macy Auton; a brother, Dean Auton; sisters, Polly Peeler, Tis Scronce, Monk Carter, Sis Stallings, and Kay Stallings; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Dood was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Fairview United Methodist Church with Reverends Ed Stephenson and Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
