William Ray Ford

William “Ray” Ford, 85, of Morganton, NC passed at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born in Watauga County, NC on July 2, 1931 and was the son of the late Stewart Ford and Lily Mae Ford. Ray loved to camp and was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred, Frank, James and Paul Ford; and grandson, Brandon Woodie.

Ray is survived by his wife, Betty Carolyn Ford of the home; children, Audrey Ford, Robin Carpenter and husband, Dennis, Ramona Beach and husband, Darren, Myra Ford Sanders and husband, Tony, Danny Ford and wife, Cynthia all of Morganton; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Ford and wife, Jacquelyn of Blowing Rock, NC; sister, Lucy Ford Denton; and sisters-in-law, Mamie Ford and Dorsie Ford.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Walker Road Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at the church at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Jesse Carr officiating. Military honors provided by NC National Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Walker Road Baptist Church, 100 Walker Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
