William Zane "Bill" Parker

William Zane "Bill" Parker, 66, of Arnold Drive, Morganton, NC, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Valdese General Hospital. Born in Burke County, NC on March 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Bill Parker and Nadie Chapman Parker. Bill attended New Grace Church. He retired from Dana Corporation and was a current employee of United Security.He is survived by his wife, Sarah Bird Parker of the home; a daughter, Pamela Parker Phillips and husband, Todd, of Morganton; brothers, W. A. "Shorty" Parker of Morganton, Jesse Parker of Morganton, and Ray Dean Parker of Connelly Springs, NC; sisters, Joie Dayberry of Morganton, Buna Lane of Taylorsville, NC, Eunice McCoy of Morganton, Aileen Attaway of Morganton, and Mary McNeilly of Morganton; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Cameron Phillips, who were his pride and joy.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Parker, an infant brother, and two infant sisters.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors to be performed by Valdese American Legion Post #234.
