Willie E. Coffey

Willie E. Coffey, 87 of Morganton died Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Cape Coral, Florida.  Willie was born October 4, 1928 in Burke County to the late James Carl Coffey and Alma Haliburton Stamey Coffey.  He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Air Force.  Willie loved country music and recorded his own music.  He was multi-talented with the ability to play many instruments.

In addition to his parents Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Coffey; four brothers, J. C., Henry, Bud, and Paul; and one sister, Lois.

Willie is survived by his wife, Wonda J. Maye Coffey; children, Carl Coffey and his wife, Darlene, Mary Sue Earnest and her husband, Gary, Bill Coffey and his wife, Kim and Alma Jean Gately; grandchildren, Catherine R. Coffey, Jessica L. Coffey, Nicole Mathews, Kaitlin Coffey Gentile, Gary Earnest, John Earnest, Carrie Ann Earnest Williams, Tammy Earnest, Holly Gardner Evans, and O.J. Williams.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Air Force and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
