Winfred Thomas "Wint" Mace

Winfred Thomas "Wint" Mace, 72, of Morganton, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC, he was the son of the late Herman Thomas Mace and Mary Lois Mull Mace. Wint attended Burkemont Baptist Church and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.Mr. Mace is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Pritchard and husband, Kenneth, Sandra Mace and fiancé, Shad Causby, and Lisa Duckworth and husband, Doug, all of Morganton; step-sons, Tommy Calhoun and wife, Judy, and Phillip Calhoun, both of Morganton; grandchildren, Brandon Mace, Andrew Watts, Cory Carter, Michael Causby, Josh Duckworth, Travis Duckworth, Melissa Smith, Chris Calhoun, and Phillip Calhoun; nine great-grandchildren; his girlfriend, Thelma Moses of Morganton; a sister, Darlene Smith of Morganton; a step-brother, Leon Poteet of Texas; an uncle, Frank Mace of Morganton; and a number of nephews and nieces.In addition to his parents, Wint was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Dale Mace; a brother, Walter Mace; step-brothers, Truitt Poteet and Britt Poteet; a step-sister, Alana Smith; and a grandson, Jonathan Watts.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at the home of Carroll and Darlene Smith, 2433 Enola Road, Morganton, NC.
