Winston “Butch” Roberts

Winston “Butch” Roberts, 68, of Morganton, died Sunday, January 17, 2016. Born in Mecklenburg County, NC on May 16, 1947, he was the son of the late Winston R. and Winifred Frodge Roberts. Butch was a graduate of Statesville Senior High in 1965 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in 1969. He was a designer and manufacture of sport fishing yachts. Butch was formally employed by Cris Craft in Swansboro, NC, Blackfin Yachts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Slane Marine in High Point, NC and Martin Family Ford in Morganton, NC.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Brenda Kay Deal Roberts; daughters Kristi Roberts of Hickory, Angela Hicks and her husband, Jay of Newton; and Deborah Turcotte of Cocoa, FL; step-daughter, Jackie Huffman and her husband Todd of Valdese; grandchildren, Kalib Hicks, Haven and Cody Turcotte; step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Kaylee Huffman, both of Valdese, and his canine companions Priss, Boo, and Squirt.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents and two special friends and mentors, Howard Current and Jerry Scott II.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Chaplin Mike Costner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
