Woodrow Thomas Norman

Woodrow Thomas Norman, 86, of Morganton passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017. He was born November 25, 1930 in McDowell County, WV and was the son of the late Tom Norman and Zula Norman. Woodrow was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was dearly loved by his family. He was the owner of Norman’s Furniture in Morganton for 50+ years. Woodrow was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved to fish and hunt. He most enjoyed driving up to Walker Top to visit deer and spending time with Ann Johnson, his special friend for the past 15-years. Woodrow was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Franklin Norman; brother, Willie Norman; and sister, Elizabeth Murphy.
He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Williams; grandsons, Justin Williams and wife, Holly of Troy, MI and Cody Williams of Raleigh, NC; sister, Amanda Whisnant; niece, Norma Roberts and husband, Robert; and nephew, Jim Blankenship.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Advent Christian Church, 211 Lenoir Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
