Yvonda Loftis Gragg, 74, passed on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was a devoted wife to the love of her life and husband of 54 years, Cecil “Ray” Gragg, and beloved Momma, Mawmaw, and "Sister" to her family and friends, blood, and non-blood relations. The strength, love, and commitment to those she cherished in life carried many through their roughest storms and her unwavering, unconditional love of her family instilled a sense of safety and belonging to all blessed enough to be touched by her presence. However, Yvonda's greatest joy, love, and gift was that she never failed to open her heart and home raising her children, grandchildren, great children, and others in need of shelter and love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God's love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love." Her ability to love is the greatest gift she leaves behind and will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her.

Yvonda ("Sister") was born on January 11, 1950, to the late Arthur Clifton Loftis, Sr and Gladys Elliott Loftis Silver. During her life, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Valdese General Hospital, worked in retail at Kmart, and prior to her declining health, a teller at Telco Credit Union. She was an active member of Lighthouse Ministries and loved her church family as her own. Yvonda loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends, her flower gardens, cooking for loved ones, family get-togethers, and watching ALL her babies grow and blossom into the amazing individuals they are today and are yet to become.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all the family and friends who cooked meals during our mother's illness, visitations, tears, hugs, and the time spent just listening when we needed to understand. In addition, they wish to thank the staff at Amorem Hospice for taking such loving care of our most precious gift and for carrying family and friends through the difficult task of saying "Goodbye".

A celebration of Yvonda’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Lighthouse Ministries.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

She was like a second Mom, a sister, and the truest of loyal friends to me all rolled into one! I could call on her anytime day or night for whatever I needed and she would be there especially in prayer for whatever was going on! She loved big and with her whole heart! I miss you so much already and I miss being able to just text you or call you but I have peace in the fact that I know I'll see you again one day! Until then my beautiful friend FLY HIGH! ❤️
