Committal
Carol B. Cooper, 90, of Valdese, NC, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Born in Burke County, NC on December 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Claywell Bryant and Tempa Olive Denton Bryant. Carol was an active member of Drexel First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Choraleers, Drexel Garden Club, and a long-time member of the Mimosa Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Carol was an alumna of the Grace Hospital School of Nursing and practiced with Dr. C.J. Dellinger and Dr. Ralph Hogshead. She worked at Valdese Hospital, was nursing director at Forest Retirement, and retired from Western Carolina Center.
Carol is survived by her son, Dennis Cooper; daughters, Susan Verble (Avery) and Debra Watts; granddaughters, Christy Fleming (Andrew), Kelsey Cooper, and Joey Waters; four great-grandchildren, Graham Fleming Elizabeth Brown, Alex Brown, Hannah Fleming; brother, Bill Bryant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Noland Kay Cooper; and brother, Max Bryant.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Drexel First Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Mike Chandler officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
