Christopher Alan Michaels, 54, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 4, 2024 after battling a long medical issue.

Born in Burke County, NC on April 25, 1970, he was the son of Billy Ray Michaels and Linda Dianne Norman Michaels.

Chris was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and a youth leader at Calvin Heights Baptist Church for many years. His Christian walk of faith and serving the Lord were very important to him. He loved drag racing and playing softball. Chris was a great storyteller who loved to share stories and spend time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his wife, Amy Kimbrell Michaels; children, Justin Austin (Lauran), Dakota Michaels (Cassie), and Alora Michaels; grandchildren, Emma Austin, Hadley Austin, and Shepherd Michaels; brother, Chad Michaels (Miranda); nephew, Kaden Michaels; and nieces, Kinsley Halford (Garrett), Holly Page (Josh), Wendy Kimbrell, and Paige Parker (Andy).

Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence Norman and Tiny Norman; and paternal grandparents, James and Mary Sue Michaels.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2024 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Dr. Luke Lane, Mr. Bobby Hipps, and Mr. Brad Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
