Danny Eugene Taylor

Danny Eugene Taylor, 76, of Marion, NC, died Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on July 15, 1948, he was the son of the late Joseph Robert Taylor and Margaret Wilson Taylor Propst.

Danny was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He served two tours and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. Mr. Taylor enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and he refereed football for many years. He was a man of faith who attended multiple churches and had served as a deacon at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Michelle Walsh (David); step-sons, Patrick McMahon (Richelle) and Casey McMahon (Kathryn); brother, Tommy Taylor; and sister, Hilda Adkins.

In addition to his parents, Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McMahon Taylor; two grandbabies; and a brother, Johnny “Bobby” Taylor.

A celebration of Danny’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Missionary Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Darren Browning officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US Marine Corps and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will greet friends following the service. Danny’s remains will be interred at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Missionary Ridge Baptist Church or Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots.
