David Eugene Ingram, 62, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 11, 1962, he was the son of the late Hayden Ingram and Pearl Winkler Ingram.

David attended Bible Gospel Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family. He also loved farming and fishing. He worked for Burke County Waste Management for 23 years.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan Bryant Ingram; sons, Joshua David Ingram and Cody Allen Benfield (Tina); daughter, Francheska Dawn Ingram; grandchildren, Hannah, Hayden, Rebecca, Cody Allen, and Nova; brothers, Ken Ingram (Susan), Larry Ingram (Jannie), and Roger Ingram (Brenda); sister, Marcella Cook (Larry); a nephew, Eddie Clark (Karen); and a number of extended family.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Harrison Lee Sabistino; and a sister, Linda Ingram Clark.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Matt Holman and Preacher Peyton Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Susan there are no words for your loss but my prayers are with all of you in this time of sorrow. David We will miss you so much at Burke County Government! I will never forget your nickname Rhonda Lee and I called you when you came to check your mail each day. You will always be our “Sunshine”. I will miss you coming to my office. You and my Dad were such great friends when you worked together at Drexel Heritage for many years. He passed away the day before you did David!
