It is with great sadness that the family of Doug Weavil announce his passing on Friday. February 3, 2023. He was born on September 29, 1949 in Winston Salem to the late Kenneth George Weavil and Dorothy Kiser Weavil. He attended Zion Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Air Force. Doug worked for Drexel Heritage for 40 years before retiring in 2014. He loved to travel and spoil his grandkids. He was an avid tennis and pickleball player.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail Jent Weavil; daughters, Meredith Jeffers (Adam) and Allison Sizemore (Josh); grandchildren, Sophia, Naomi, Gloria, and Fiona Jeffers, Lincoln and Eleanor Sizemore; brothers, David (Mila), Daryl, Dean, Danny and Duane; sister, Cynthia Gentry (Vic): and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-3pm, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 3pm in the church with Rev. Keith Rose officiating. A graveside service will be held 1 PM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall, NC, with military honors provided by US Air Force and V.F.W. Memorial Honor Guard.
