Edith Lula Kirby Bradley, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Born in Summers County, WV on November 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Eldridge Kirby and Sylvia Smith Kirby.
Edith was a Christian woman who was strong in her faith. Known for her artistic flair and resourcefulness, Edith had a remarkable ability to transform the ordinary into extraordinary with her crafty talents. Cooking was not just a hobby for Edith; it was an expression of love. She was also a devoted enthusiast of ancestry and genealogy; she treasured the stories of the past, weaving them into the fabric of her family’s present and future. Her laughter was infectious, she had a nurturing soul, and she had a collector’s heart. She also had a passion for music, with a particular fondness for the rich, authentic sounds of her vinyl records.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Leonard Whitlow Bradley, Sr.; children, Ben Bradley (Margaret), Kathy Clark, (Audey), Cynthia Hart (David), Diana Queen (Michael), Tina Still (Bob), John Bradley (Brooke Puett), Robbie Dean Bradley (Brenda) , Lisa Cox (Rodney), and Sara Sisk (Rodney); grandchildren, Brandy Martino (Mark), Brad Bradley, Melissa Corpening (Jeff), Heather Bolick (Jase), Amanda Millian (Bradd), Jason Feimster, Joshua Feimster, Bethany Van Pelt (Byron), Misty Gainey (Brandon), Tyler Jones (Amy), Elijah Jones, Kristin Clifton (Will), Emily Bradley, Kevin Cox (Shelby Longgrear), Ashleigh Cox, Autumn Mize (Robert), Taylor Sisk (fiancé, Nathan Barajas), and Branson Sisk; great-grandchildren, Adam Martino, Alexandria Martino, Jaxson Martino, Sydnee Martino, Airionna Bradley, Dakota Bradley, Charlotte Van Pelt, Henry Van Pelt, Stella Kate Jones, Drexel Jones, Kinsley Reeves, Blakely Reeves, Carson Perry, Ky Dillingham, Ansleigh Mize, Owen Mize, Ashley Puett, Kaitlyn Puett, Anna Gainey, Jack Gainey, Maddox Wise, Patience Wise (Jeremy), Sebastian Millian, Cayden Corpening, and William Ayash; great-great-grandchildren, Asher Martino, Kora Martino, and Maddox Wise; a special sister-in-law, Doris Bird.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by grandsons, Mathew Bradley and Kevin Tallent; granddaughter, Amber Queen; great-grandson, Chris Arrowood; brother, Dewey “Buddy” Kirby; and sister-in-law, Susie “Barbara” Kirby.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Revs. Kevin Crawford and Boyd Biggerstaff officiating. Burial will follow at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 1741 Jamestown Road, Morganton.
