Hazel Ruth Huskins Mashburn, 84 of Morganton, NC went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Born on December 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Dovie Huskins. Hazel was a member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She loved to fix Wednesday night suppers at the church with the kitchen committee. She loved her church and church family dearly. Hazel always looked forward to having Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family. She also loved to sit on her porch with her friends and getting her hair done.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Lynette M. Griffin (Roger); grandchildren, Teena L. Brooks (Stephen), Tiphany Branch (Bradley); great-grandchildren, Makenzie Branch, Paigelyn Branch, Jamey Branch.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Mashburn, Jr.; brothers, John, Bill, Gene, Wade, Bobby, and Joe Huskins; sisters, Annie Shook, Lucille Franklin, Maxine Landis, Sandra Miller, and Gaye Brooks.
The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm, Friday, November 1, 2024 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church at 2pm with the Pastors Roger Griffin and Dean McCurry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kitchen Committee of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
