John Phillip Bortner, Jr., 67, of Morganton, NC went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2024. He was born on March 18, 1957 in Corinth, NY to Shirley Mae (Denton) and the late John Phillip Bortner, Sr.
In addition to his mother, John is survived by his wife, Patti; his children, Phil, Melissa (Stephen) and Heather (Ken); two grandchildren; brother, Stephen (Sharon); sisters, Pam (Pat) and Becky (Steve); and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Lifestream Church of the Nazarene, 5105 Leonardtown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601. The service is open to all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider a donation be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of John P. Bortner, Jr.
