Linda Hoyle McSwain, died January 12, 2024 after several years of declining health. She was born to the late Edwin and Pearl Hoyle in 1947. Linda was a lifelong member of North Morganton United Methodist Church. She experienced a life of amazing adventures. Linda crossed the Gulf of Mexico in a small sailboat, spent several months in Japan, worked as a houseparent at a Children's Home, and provided therapeutic care for several individuals with special needs. She also met a Maasai tribesman from Kenya and over several years helped him develop a system to provide water, solar lighting, and a truck for his family. She was a mentor for several student's Senior Projects which provided these improvements. During her last few years, she enjoyed sharing her creative touch with those around her. " Lady L's" jewelry, plants from her Greenhouse, and hand painted greeting cards were shared with her many friends. Her greatest pride was developing a love of creativity in her grandchildren who would help her in many projects.
Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, "Butch" McSwain; sons, Bryn (Meredith) of Winston-Salem and Kevin (Rebecca) of Wilmington; daughter, Kerri Bishop (Jason) of Wrightsville Beach; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Bobby (Karen), Billy (Donna); sister, Francis and their families.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton UMC.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

So sorry for the McSwain family. Linda was so funny to be around. I remember in our old church where Linda and Butch was Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, singing Island In The Stream. They were so funny but good. Love this Lady. She will be missed.
