Mark Allison Woody, 56, of Morganton, NC, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 26, 2024, just two days shy of his 57th birthday.
Born in Burke County, NC on June 28, 1967, he was the youngest son of the late Paul Woody and Sarah “Sadie” Small Woody.
Mark was truly one of a kind. He was blessed with a remarkable sense of humor and the gift of powerful persuasion. He was a complex, often complicated person who was both quick-witted and disarming. Mark was an avid trail rider on vehicles of all types, including jeeps, motorcycles, and ATVs. When he wasn’t working on one of his many toys, he could often be found participating in motorcross events on either motorcycles or ATVs, or jeeping with friends off a beaten path.
Mark is survived by his brother, Brian Woody; nieces, Lisa Herman and Lori Callahan Hawkins; and several great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Woody Vail.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date with Rev. Ronnie LaFevers officiating.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mark’s former wife, Thressia Parlier Benfield for all the love and care she gave to him, and their children and grandchildren that made his heart happy. They would also like to express their appreciation for the outpouring of care, concern, and prayers during this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
