Megan Renee Morehead, 33 of Morganton, NC joined her father in Heaven, Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Born on February 26, 1992, she was the daughter of Debbie Morehead and the late Steve Morehead. Megan was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She had a compassionate sense of humor and loved animals. Megan graduated from Freedom High School where she was a cheerleader.
In addition to her mother, Debbie, Megan is survived by her son, Axl Morehead; siblings, Angie Scott (Zeb), Ronnie Morehead (Courtney), Stephanie Thompson (Steven); niece, Mindi Evans; numerous nephews; maternal grandmother, Frances Whisnant; great-uncle, Bill Whisnant; aunts, Dianne Stuart (Tim) and Sandy Sisk (David), cousins, Kelly Gay, Lauren Edwards, Alex Sisk, Mike and Chad Morehead, Wendy Morrow.
In addition to her father, Megan was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Morehead; paternal grandparents, Lib and Marvin Morehead; maternal grandfather, Worth Whisnant.
The family will receive friends from 3pm until 4pm, Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 4pm in the Chapel with the Revs. April Abernethy and Adam Love officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Oh precious girl, there truly are no words to describe the depth of heartbreak I feel. I so wish you could have found the peace you were seeking before you left this world. You were loved by so many people, and you will be missed terribly. Praying for your dear mother and that precious son of yours, may God give them peace and comfort, knowing that you are resting in His arms for all eternity. I love you endlessly my sweet girl!
My condolences are with you all in this trying time. I know Megan and I had drifted apart over the last several years, but I loved her dearly and always wanted the best for her. I pray the lord gives you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Megan, may you rest easy in heaven and we will see you again one day. I can’t wait to see that beautiful smile and hear your infectious laugh again.
