Rev. Ron Cooper, 68 of Morganton, NC went to his Lord and Savior, Friday, July 19, 2024. Born on March 15, 1956, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Paris Cooper. Ron was the Interim Pastor at McGalliard Falls Baptist Church from 2020 to 2023, former Pastor at El Bethel Baptist Church from 2000 to 2017, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rutherfordton, NC from 1986 to 2000, and Associate Pastor of North Frayser Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Columbia Bible College in 1979 and his Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982 where he was ordained by the late Dr. Adrian Rogers. He was called to serve the Lord at the age of 14.

Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Cooper; daughter, Joy Cooper White (Brad); granddaughters, Hadley and Raelynn White; sister, Cheryl Denise Cooper; brother-in-law, Richard Carlson; nieces and nephews, Jacob Hughes (Diane), Holly Hughes Tallent (Phillip), Ben Hughes (Michelle), Denise Whitfield (Dave), Tina Zaworski (Stan), Joe Legions (Cherelle); several great-nieces, nephews and great great-nieces, nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 4pm, in the sanctuary of El Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Justin Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
