Susan Carswell Fox, 68, of Morganton, NC, died Monday, November 25, 2024.
Born in Burke County, NC on July 23, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Alexander Carswell and Margie Lee Benfield Carswell. Susan retired from Broughton Hospital after working as a CNA for 30 years. Since 2008 she has worked as a caregiver for Brooks Yeomans and Harold Crowell. She never met a stranger. Susan was an amazing mother and grandmother, and her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
Susan is survived by her children, Alisha Duckworth (Josh) and Eric Fox (Katie); grandchildren, Anslee and Wesson Duckworth; sister, Debbie Miller (Dallas); niece, Hannah, and her daughter, Scout; nephew, Phil (Christy), and their daughter, Lily; nephew, Calvin, and his children, Caden and Colton; great-aunt, Shirley Whisenant, and her daughter, Sandy Tallent; companion, Wayne Shores, and his son, Stacey Shores; the father of her children, Rick Fox; special friend, Brenda Whisnant; and a number of extended family.
In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Rhodes.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Justin Cunningham officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to the Disaster Relief Fund at El Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2518, Morganton, N C28680.
