William “PeeWee” Carswell, 81, of Morganton, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on February 5, 1943, he was the son of the late Charlie Andrew Carswell and Mary Otis Poteat Carswell.

PeeWee was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and was a member of the Salem Fire Department. He loved to play softball and raise cows. PeeWee owned and operated Carswell Package Store and Carswell Grading.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Carswell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Bollinger Carswell; son, Charles Andrew Carswell (Wendy); daughter, Wendy Carswell Jones (Ronnie); and grandchildren, Candis Carswell and Sydney Carswell.

In addition to his parents, PeeWee was preceded in death by a grandson, Isaac Carswell; brothers, Charles Carswell, Jr., Leonard Carswell, Nun Carswell, J.D. Carswell, and Gray Carswell; and sisters, Bertina Seagle, Abalie Brittain, Mary Etta Pittillo, and Elva Digh.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. David Orders officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home to assist with expenses.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
