Yvonne Mavis Jamison, 68, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2024.
She was born to the late Milton and Cynthia Singleton in Morganton on May 3, 1955. Yvonne worked and retired as a nurse from Broughton Hospital. She was a devoted friend, selfless caregiver, and loving mother and grandmother. She always had a love for cooking and sharing meals with those she cared about. Anyone who knew Yvonne would tell you she loved to laugh and make others smile. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter Jessica Barko and husband David of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Betty Deal of Morganton, and a brother, Michael Singleton of Havelock, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Scarlett and Cooper.
The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Sossoman Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow with Pastor Dan Qurollo officiating. A private burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Worked with this precious friend for years. She was as such a delight to work with and to be around! She was dearly loved by everyone she came in contact with. An exemplary nurse! My love, prayers and thoughts go out to the family.

It was my honor to share an office and a weekend rotation at Broughton with Yvonne. She brought excellence to everything she did. Her commitment to patient care and the support of staff was inspiring. So often we enjoyed the generosity of her culinary talents, especially her fabulous pound cakes. A smile always broke across her face when she mentioned Jessi and her entire family. I will treasure her memory and I am so grateful that I could work with her and call her a friend. Deep condolences to her family.

I’m still having a hard time processing that Yvonne is gone.So I know she and I had talked a few weeks ago about trying to get everybody together. Because it has been awhile and some of our kids have not met. Yvonne you will be missed but not forgotten.
I worked with Yvonne as a nurse and she cared deeply for her patients and staff. It was an honor to work with her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and pray her family may find comfort and peace during this difficult time.
