Jimmy “Scott” Banner, 56, of Morganton, NC, died Monday, September 16, 2024.
Born in Burke County, NC on April 16, 1968, he was the son of Jimmy Banner and the late Lois Mastin Banner.
Scott was a member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church and spending time with his family. Scott enjoyed volunteering at CoMMA, the soup kitchen, and the local hospital, and he enjoyed martial arts.
Scott is survived by his father, Jimmy “Red” Banner (Helen); brother, Randy Banner (Shebra); half-sisters, Cosyliva Whisenant, Cassandra Penland, and Suprenia Hicks; and nephews, Hunter Banner and Dewayne Conard.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

It is such a sad moment for the family, and I truly hope God gives each and every one of you the strength and comfort during this difficult time. Scott was always happy, smiling and ready to talk. He truly was a kind hearted and loving soul. Rest in peace my friend.

We are at a loss of words. Hearing the news of Scott left us speechless yet we know that Scott is rejoicing with his Savior in Heaven. We extend our sincerest condolences to the family. We pray that you find comfort, strength and peace in knowing that we will one day see his shining face again.
