William Henry Farris “Pete”, 70 of Morganton, NC went to his Heavenly Home to be with the Lord, Monday, June 3, 2024 after a courageous battle of declining health. Born on November 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Wilburn “Boots” and Lillian Grace Farris. Pete enjoyed life. He loved spending time with his family and especially fishing with his grandson in Florida and spending time with his other two grandsons in Tennesee. Pete loved being in the mountains and at the beach.
Pete is survived by his wife of 39 years, Hilda Causby Farris; daughter, Melissa A. Farris; grandsons, Trevor Barrier (Maegan), Dalton Ollis, Wyatt Ollis; brothers, David Farris (Teresa), Jerry Farris (Jackie); a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family; k-9 companion, Magnus, feline companions, Layla and L.B.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his brother, JC Farris; sisters, Janie Watson, Jewel Self (Jay), Ursula McDaniels (David).
A graveside service will be held at 10am, Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Mt. View #2 Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Combs and Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Honors will be provided by the Morganton Department of Public Safety Honor Guard.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Pete. I was out of town and just now saw the obituary. May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you peace and comfort.
Hilda and family so sorry for the loss. Pete was it good friend during high School. We both work for the city of Morganton for a while. He was a PSO and I was the man what worked on his car. I know he'll be greatly missed.
Family, I am saddened to hear that Pete died. He and I are the same age and were in many classes together at Glen Alpine, where he sat behind me when teachers seated classes alphabetically. My hope is you find comfort in the many good memories of Pete and his sense of humor and love for his family. Judy Farris

Pete & Hilda were honorary members of our family. From the time they moved in next door to our aunt until her passing they cared for her like she was their own. Pete's tender compassion, great sense of humor and loyalty are stand out qualities of his that had a lasting impact on our family! His loss will be felt by so many!
